Improve elder people's health- lifelong learning

With the technology advancement and the improvement of medical technology, the overall life expectancy is getting higher every year. In the future, we will be welcoming a “learning” society, and lifelong learning will then become an important topic. Learning is good for health, and even reading for a short period of time can have significant results.

MY ROLE

Since this is the project I did during schoolyears, I finished it independently besides the interviewing part.

Project Process

1.User interview

I found 8 elderly persons who were currently taking classes or used to take classes to conduct the interviews, so as to know their difficulties in learning and the reasons that some chose to stop taking classes.

After sorting out the materials collected in the interviews, I decided the product’s directions with the KJ method.

Based on the result of my research, I decided that the product should be

“The matching platform of course-selection that allow elderly people to have classes with elementary students.”

2.Corporate Identity System

The name of the product is “learning companions”, with the meaning of both learning and being accompanied.

With the questionnaire, I found out that elderly people favor home-style and warm colors, so I used them in planning the colors of the brand.

THE FEEDBACK &
WHAT I LEARNED

This is the first time I tried to make UI/UX products. As a graphic design student, I did not know what to do in the first place; luckily some seniors in my department have some experiences in this field, so I turned to them proactively. Whether it was making flowchart or using the software, they were all new things for me.

With a feedback I got for my work, I realized that I should conduct the interview in a more detailed fashion, so should ask the elderly people to conduct the usability test after the product is done, so that it can meet their needs more properly.
